Nexomon vs nexomon extinction5/17/2023 Nexomon is available on the Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. Despite it all, the similarities and the problems I had with gameplay and design, I still believe Nexomon is a good choice for someone who is ready to take on a new franchise. But at the same time, it’s almost impossible to see this and not think of another game. Nexomon is a game worthy of being played and discussed apart from its influences. Moving away from a pixel art style is refreshing and new, but the narration is stilted and awkward. The story feels more involved than what I expected, but battles then feel clunky and simplistic. The parts that make Nexomon its own game separate from its influences are both fun to explore and frustrating. Some designs were oddly lackluster compared to others. Monster designs are fun and rather unique. While remembering what Nexomon type was weak to another and which I needed to bring out if I wanted to win the fight was initially hard, overall the variety was nice. The variety is impressive and the gameplay execution was okay. I’d recommend playing the first one, then Extinction. The stories are different but similar in some ways. Nexomon Extinction is the second game and that one was originally released on console. Nexomon provides you with seven starter types that you’ll eventually find in the world as well: normal, mineral, wind, water, fire, electric, plant. Nexomon was the first one released originally on Mobile which they have now ported to consoles. This is where I start to feel 50/50 on the game. Slowly, things start to change and Nexomon finds its place as an individual game. Even the act of launching a bad guy into the stratosphere is here. The initial question I had during my first hour or so with Nexomon was, “When does a reference become so much that the game has lost its own flavor?” Those earlier story beats and gameplay introductions make it incredibly hard to separate it from its Pokemon influences. Hit up each town and battle against the area’s overseer. Walk through high grass, battle wild Nexomon and attempt to catch them in star-shaped traps. So… it’s a little different from Pokemon.īut once you’re out on the road, it’s back to business as usual. You aren’t fighting the town bully, you’re fighting against adults who think it’s okay to burn a small house down. Circumstances thrust you into a world where Nexomon and humans now live peacefully after an evil Nexomon overlord attempted to use said creatures to thrust the world into darkness. You’re a young Nexomon tamer (not trainer). That doesn’t mean it doesn’t borrow heavily from Pokemon. Yes, I believe Nexomon is it’s own entity. I can’t say if this game is better or worse than Pokemon it’s simply its own game within a genre that’s been around for decades. Originally a mobile title, it takes the familiar formula and changes it in both good and bad ways. And, well, since we haven’t seen a lot of such games on the PC, it’s definitely a welcome addition. At this point, Pokemon set the stage for the monster catching and fighting RPG genre, but Nexomon attempts to go beyond that. Moreover, defeated trainers come back stronger than before and ready to battle again. As such, players will see the world around them get more challenging as they progress. Lastly, the game will feature a dynamic difficulty setting. Players can also uncover secrets, stumble upon side-quests and encounter a raft of eccentric characters. Moreso, Nexomon: Extinction has a whole mechanic regarding Cores that can be given to Nexomon to give them tactical boosts like increased Defense, Attack, Gold Gain, and more. The game comes with a brand new story, eccentric characters and over 300 unique Nexomon to trap and tame. Players will also navigate challenging environments and manage their effects on their Nexomon.įurthermore, players can step up and take on would-be challengers and dangerous foes. Nexomon: Extinction is a return to classic monster catching games. However, as similar as it is, Nexomon: Extinction does just enough to make it a worthwhile Pokémon alternative with its vibrantly colorful world, unique story, and fun monster-catching mechanics. Nexomon: Extinction will be coming to the PC this Summer, and below you can find its debut trailer. PQube and VEWO have announced a new Pokemon-like game, Nexomon: Extinction.
